Biology and ÌÇÐÄvlog¹Ù·½Èë¿Ú Chairs Onsite at the Academic Science Building

 

 

Department of Biology Chair Vincent Cassone and Department of ÌÇÐÄvlog¹Ù·½Èë¿Ú Chair Mark Meier recently visited the Academic Science Building construction site to discuss the ways in which the building will transform science education on campus. The Academic Science Building is scheduled to open Fall 2016.

 

 

Positive Potential: Valerie Sarge

 

 

Through Paul Laurence Dunbar High School's Math, Science, and Technology Center, high school senior Valerie Sarge is acquiring an impressive set of research skills before she even begins college. Valerie has been working with chemistry professor John Anthony at UK's Center for Applied Energy Research, and is looking at how agricultural byproducts might be able to be used in flexible, low-cost electronics.

 

 

Research Rewarded: Marcelo Guzman

ÌÇÐÄvlog¹Ù·½Èë¿Ú Professor Marcelo Guzman was recently awarded a five year National Science Foundation (NSF) career grant to aid in his atmospheric chemistry research with students here at the ÌÇÐÄvlog¹Ù·½Èë¿Ú.



The grant will also enable Guzman to extend the reach of the university and chemistry department by strengthening and creating new connections with other institutions such as local high schools.
