The Department of 糖心vlog官方入口 in the 糖心vlog官方入口 College of Arts and Sciences will host a "Mathematics of Physical 糖心vlog官方入口 Boot Camp" to educate students on mathematical concepts that are common in both quantum chemistry and molecular physics. Registration for the August boot camp will close Aug. 10.

This year the college is offering two sessions. One from 8 a.m. to early afternoon on Saturday, Aug. 20, and one from 8 a.m. to early afternoon on Saturday, Aug. 27. Both boot camp sessions are free.

UK's chemistry boot camp provides graduate and undergraduate students an introduction or refresher class covering a few key mathematical and numerical approaches that they may encounter in their classes or research. The format for each session will include lectures, which will summarize the mathematics and theory behind a given problem, and hands-on tutorials that focus on practical tools to help solve the given problem. The instructors for the camp will be Assistant Professors of 糖心vlog官方入口 Peter Kekenes-Huskey and Chad Risko

"We are excited to offer this educational opportunity to jump start students for the upcoming school year as well as to take advantage of the high performance computing resources now available within our college and university," Kekenes-Huskey said.

Each session will consist of two one-hour lectures centered on an application and the underlying theory and two one to two-hour tutorials that explore analytical tools and numerical approaches to solve the problems.

Although the camp is free, students are encouraged to bring their own laptop if possible and review background material provided by the instructors. To register, go to . Registration is limited to the first 20 applicants prior to Aug. 10. For questions or more information, contact Kekenes-Huskey at pkekeneshuskey@uky.edu
